Hi, I’m Steve.
I’m a freelance animator and designer based in Brighton UK. I operate in just about every area of digital media production including animation and motion graphics, graphic design, icon design, web design and dabble in a bit of programming sometimes too. Have a browse through my portfolio below, find out more about me, or see how I could help you. I love meeting new people, so don’t hesitate to drop me a message.
Motion graphics is my weapon of choice
Motion graphics can bring your stories to life. I offer a full-suite service from scripting, story-boarding and voice-over, to illustration, animation and rendering. If you’ve got a story to tell, I can help you add a whole new dimension.
I’m always learning
I’m always exploring new ways to work and learning new things. You can keep up to date with my learning journey on my Inbetweening blog.
This animation was produced to introduce students at the University of Sheffield to their Careers Service. It gives a brief overview of what the service provides and how students can use it throughout their degree and beyond. Taking cues from the service’s recent rebrand, I designed the animation to use white outlines on coloured backgrounds, […]
Every year, the Careers Service at the University of Sheffield carries out a survey of all recent graduates to find out what they are now doing. It forms part of a national survey, so it’s important that graduates are able to complete the survey. To help raise awareness and encourage graduates to get involved, I […]
In 2015 I took on the task of refreshing the look and feel of the University of Sheffield Careers Service to closer match the identity and personality of the service. The previous style used for marketing materials used a heavy black outline and 5 bright colours to represent the 5 areas of service that the […]
Creative direction – Richard Dufty, RBD Design I was asked by Richard Duffy to create a series of animated ‘heads up display’ graphics and technical drawings to accompany a promotional video for Integral Powertrain; an engineering firm based in Milton Keynes. These animations would be a subtle feature of the final piece, but would help […]
The Network Factory provide automation solutions that help streamline digital services for a range of businesses, large and small. This is done through a practice called DevOps – a fairly common workflow within the software developer community, but many clients who could benefit from it don’t actually know what it is. I was tasked with […]
Social media plays a huge role in our lives, and using it can have an effect on employability. I was tasked with creating a short animation to advise how social media can be used beneficially in career planning and job searching. For this animation I provided a script and storyboard before producing illustrations in Adobe […]
The University of Sheffield runs Achieve More each year, inviting first year students to work in teams across their faculty to come up with solutions to real world problems. I was tasked with producing an animation that would advise the students on how they could recognise the skills they were developing through this module, and how […]
In 2016 The University of Sheffield Careers Service and The British Council teamed up to create a free online course ‘How to Succeed In: The Global Workplace’. The course offered advice for people starting work, either for the first time or taking up a job in a foreign country. It focused on the culture of the […]
Video interviews have become a common element of recruitment processes, especially for larger organisations who may be dealing with hundreds of applicants for a single position. I was tasked by The University of Sheffield Careers Service to create a short animation that informed students and graduates of how employers were using video interviews, and how […]
PIWoP – short for Price I Want to Pay – is a simple online shopping tool that keeps track of the prices of things you’d like to buy online. Whether it’s electronics, furniture, food or holidays; PIWoP can tell you when the item’s price drops to your range. Simply set the price you want to […]
As well as an animator and designer, I’m a keen musician performing as Steve and the Sea. In 2016 I released my debut EP and decided to write, record, distribute and design the entire EP by myself. The EP was released on a limited run of CDs, and as such I wanted to create something […]
